Vietnam to achieve annual economic growth of 7-8 percent in the next 10 years
Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said here on Wednesday that Vietnam targets to achieve annual economic growth rate of between seven and eight percent in the next ten years.
Dung made the remarks at a seminar to discuss the draft Vietnam ’s
National Socio-Economic Development Strategy in the 2011-2020 period.
The seminar attracted Vietnamese senior policy makers and local and
international researchers.
Under the strategy, Vietnam also sets a goal that the country’s gross
domestic product (GDP) per capita will reach 3,000 to 3,200 U.S. dollars
by 2020, said Dung.
To reach the targets, Dung said that Vietnam has to accelerate
administrative reform, develop high-quality human resources, improve
infrastructure and enhance science and technology.
Vietnam will try its best to develop in a fast and sustainable way in the next ten years, he said.
At the seminar, participants agreed that to achieve its objective of
becoming a largely industrialized country by 2020, Vietnam may have to
adopt a new model of development.
The new model should help Vietnam increase added value in value chain in production and exports, they said.
