Russia hopes to meet domestic demand for grain

Despite expected grain output spill due to drought, Russia has expressed hope that the domestic demand would be meted out through harvest this year.

Interfax news agency reported as said by Russian Agriculture Minister
Elena Skrynnik that the country does not need to import grain for the
domestic supply.

Skrynnik said expectations of a harvest this year at 60 million tons
were “pessimistic,” while between 65 million and 67 million tons is
“optimistic.”

Russia had originally planned to harvest 90 million tons this year.
